What We Believe
We Believe:
- The Holy Scriptures are inspired of God and His revelation to man.
- In one God, yet three persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- In the deity of Jesus Christ and that He is eternally the Son of God.
- Mankind, although created in God's image, willingly sinned and incurred spiritual death - eternal separation from a Holy God.
- By the undeserved favor of God, Jesus became humanities hope of salvation and died in their stead. He made it possible for one to have eternal life if only one will confess their sins, turn from their life of sin and by faith accept the free gift God would give them.
- Jesus instituted two means for a believer to express His gift to us - baptism by immersion and Holy Communion.
- God empowers us to live a life of holiness and service by baptizing us with the Holy Spirit.
- The initial physical evidence of this Holy Spirit baptism is the sign of speaking with other tongues, as God gives the utterance.
- The believer is to live a life separate from the evil of this world, but actively ministering in love to the people of the world.
- It is God's purpose for the church's members to bring as many into God's kingdom as possible.
- God provides for healing of the entire person.
- Jesus is coming again and will judge the earth's inhabitants, establishing a new heaven and new earth.
Our vision for New Salem Assembly is to be a lighthouse to our community. As such, we commit as a body of Spirit-filled believers to teach God's Word, the Holy Bible, and we work together in unity, in faith and in love by the indwelling of Holy Spirit to minister to the needs of people in our community.
As a lighthouse of believers, we will use our spiritual gifts to build up, to comfort and to challenge all believers in this local Body of Christ to a life of righteous living and to be obedient to the Holy Spirit to share the Full Gospel, the Good News of redemption through the life, death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, along with the benefits of a transformed, Spirit-filled life to our community and throughout the world.
